Soapbox Derby

Soapbox Derby ; Wikipedia

Soapbox Derby Racing is a form of racing where the contestant builds a form of go-cart, without a motor and with a much more aerodynamic design.

The cars are driven by their makers and are ran down a paved track, anywhere from two to several lanes in width. The Soapbox Derby cars line up at the starting line and it is all about gravity and aerodynamics from there, to the finish line.

These Derby’s are held in various locations around the country and are serious racing events for the young participants.

It’s a good lesson in building a small vehicle and good clean competition for the Kids. An excellent way to introduce your son or daughter to the competitive side of racing. Adults can race their cars too!

Red Bull has come up with a Soapbox Derby event that is a lot less serious than the real thing, but looks like a bunch of fun for the participants and spectators alike. Check it out below, along with the Real Soapbox Races!

We will be covering more Soapbox racing, because it is popular and exciting!
